Beginners that have just begun to apply makeup are often unsure when it comes to learning how to apply eye shadow.  Eye shadow can be difficult to apply as it must be blended in order to obtain the best results. One of the most difficult aspects that people have trouble applying makeup with is the blending aspect of the makeup.

First, choose the eye shadow color that will compliment the eye color. This will increase the pizzazz of the eyes if the proper color is chosen. For example, those with green eyes should avoid green eye shadow as it can reduce the pop that comes from wearing eye makeup. Brown tinted eye shadow is a fantastic way to increase the impact that the eyes can make.

Apply the principal eye color that is being used to the eye lids and stop before the color reaches the creases within the eye lid. At this point, color can be smudged into the crease and shimmer or lighter colors can be used to highlight the brow line. Dark color should never be used to highlight the brow line.

Use the proper brushes to apply the eye shadow as this can assist in the blending process of the eye shadow.
